Presentation of the cause at the French Episcopal Conference
The procedure is that a bishop, before opening a cause for beatification, consults his colleagues in the episcopate on the appropriateness of such a cause. This consultation is not binding, but moving in the opposite direction to the advice received is not prudent.
The postulator had hoped that for the spring session the consultation could be made. The joy is now all the greater since after having waited six more months, the vote was positive. Thank you to our bishops! The vote was made in Lourdes, precisely where Élise, 54 years before (almost to the day), had come on pilgrimage with the Brotherhood of the Sick. It was there, at the foot of the Virgin of Massabielle, that Elise had made her vows of the Dominican tertiary.
