The many artists on display offered us a wide variety of visions of the magnificent surrounding landscapes. An artist very dear to Elise's heart was represented among the many paintings loaned by the association: her father, René Bisschop, who was a talented painter.
A total of 106 works were exhibited, created by no fewer than 50 painters, including René Bisschop and 17 contemporary artists. A work by Mr. Bisschop was presented at the entrance to the church, a magnificent 3x4m canvas that was the decoration of the former village hall of the Mailly-le-Château school. Élise's father loved to paint the local scenery that nature offered him; through these brushstrokes we better understand Élise's taste for nature, as evidenced by many of her poems.
