Elise's Days 2024

An extraordinary time coincided with the commemoration of the sixtieth anniversary of the death of Élise Bisschop on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April 2024.

For this special anniversary, the days were divided between Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, early in the afternoon, a few people came to experience the trail in Mailly-le-Château that the association had prepared. They were asked to take beautiful photos along the way, which was wonderfully done.

The trail ended with a prayer at the church and a snack at the municipal center, which had been kindly provided for the initiative.

On Saturday evening, the magnificent recital by Étienne and Jocelyne TARNAUD took place in Trucy-sur-Yonne, at the Prost estate. With the theme of the Resurrection, they couldn't have pleased Élise and the children present more. Around forty people found their way to be filled with an exceptional experience. At the end of the recital, Étienne was able to sign musical works containing texts on the treasures of the Christian faith.

On Sunday, the beautiful weather accompanied all those who came to attend the Mass celebrated for the repose of Elise's soul. It was a joy to see how full the church was of faithful of all ages.

After the Mass, there was the traditional blessing of the family vault at the Mailly-le-Château cemetery; a very modest gesture but with the great desire to see Elise demonstrate the beauty and power of her prayer in this place of so much human mourning.

About twenty people were able to stay for the conference, which focused on Elise's commitment to the Fraternity of the Sick. Toward the end of her tertiary life, she wanted to become a Lay Dominican to be better helped in her quest for total and absolute self-giving. In the Fraternity, as among the inhabitants of Mailly-le-Château, Elise was a ray of light, both through her faith and her smile.

Elise's days ended with a simple but very convivial shared meal. It was a great joy to experience this moment in the spirit of sharing and building new friendships or strengthening old ones. If all goes well, next year new days will be organized around the hundredth anniversary of Élise's birth. We count on your prayers for a new success!
