A part-time parishioner, **Miss Bourdillat**, who is also a local historian, comes to know the interest that the parish has in Élise. She then spontaneously spoke of the great friendship she had had with her since her youth. Miss Bourdillat **reveals nine letters** she had received from Elise, as well as a letter from the then parish priest who announced her death.

Miss Bourdillat is five years younger than Élise, from a neighboring village, but their common love for the Lord and for the parish united them strongly. For the first time we are faced with **Élise's daily thought**. The letters corroborate the poems: **simplicity, faith and joy**.
