In recent months, our Élise Bisschop historical collection has grown with two new remarkable pieces. Indeed, we acquired a magnificent painting by René Bisschop and a rare drawing by Élise.
René's painting, offering a view of Rue des Fossés and the church of Mailly-le-Château, was purchased on the ebay site from an antique dealer in Saint-Gingolph in Haute-Savoie. This small, beautifully crafted painting once belonged to Pierre Bisschop, Élise's brother. The other remarkable piece is a drawing by Élise depicting flowers and the flight of a butterfly. In the form of a small greeting card, the design has the following inscription on the back: “Best wishes and all my affection. Elise. Mailly-le-Château, November 1960, Élise Bisschop. » We don't know who the drawing was intended for, but it had been dormant all this time in the Moselle department. Thanks to the seller's report, the drawing could be purchased on the Delcampe website.18/12/2022
